Odds

Many people feel that Doomsday is right around the corner. It seems that every generation has grown up feeling this way, but they've all been wrong. Harold Camping recently predicted the rapture and doomsday in 2011.

The Earth is 4 billion years old, our lives average 75 years long, The odds of our world "ending" in our lifetime is highly unlikey...All you bible nutjobs need to realize that the bible was a book, based on mythology, to set a standard of morals in a barbaric race. Everyone needs something to beleive in, believe in yourself.

Based on mythology? So all the acheological proof that Biblical events and Biblical people have been proven are based off of mythology also I suppose.

Most mythology is based off of real/historical events, people, and places, but with an extra tall tail twist to it i.e. god.

 Archeological proof?! Yes Jerusalem exists, as does Bethlehem. Those archeological proofs say nothing of the divinity of the bible or Jesus. Don't delude yourself by thinking you believe in the bible for any rational or logical reason. You don't. You were most likely brought up Christian and will remain so until you die or start using your entire brain when thinking about religion.

Though I agree 'armageddon' in 2012 is unlikely, the odds are that life/civilization as we know it will end at some point, and there is as much chance of it happening in 2012 as any other year. Completely dismissing the idea in this manner is almost as unscientific as blind faith.

Show me one line in the written history of the time that mentions jesus, not biblical or the fake sites set up by the right wing, actual roman written history.

Of Course the prophets of the time needed to use actual places, who would believe if the prophets named the gumdrop Forrest and never never land.

With answers like this...Based on mythology? So all the archeological proof that Biblical events and Biblical people have been proven are based off of mythology also I suppose....leads me to think, that using ones brain must give them a major headache, so it's easier not to think at all.

He was pointing out the infinitesimal likelihood. Your question is a straw argument which you set up just so you can knock it down. It has nothing to do with the OP's intent.

Meanwhile, I think you ought to spend all your money on lottery tickets. Someone has to win, why not you?!?

Of course they did happen and they did exist but these stories have been passed down for thousands of years. Of course they are going to be a little distorted and misleading.

It's not the idea of the world ending we're arguing against, it's the idea that you can predict exactly when it's going to happen based on an ancient calendar and some codes that you could find in any book if you tried hard enough.
