Nostradamus 2012

Nostradamus was a French prophet that published a book called "The Prophecies" in 1555. His future predictions were hidden in quatrains which make them difficult to interpret. Nostradamus described the destruction of the “New City” in 1999 by flying machines. Was he only a couple years off from predicting 911?

Nostradamus has never PREDICTED anything. All cases of what he wrote SUPPOSEDLY matching something that actually happened are all done after the fact and not terribly convincing. Whether or not you believe this kind of crap, it is really useless. Hind sight and hand waving to try and match what Nostradamus wrote to what has happened is irrelevant and certainly can't help us in the future.

Since it is an enormous stretch of the imagination to retro fit stuff to match, it is pretty much impossible to try and guess what any of the other crap means. All people will ever be able to do is the silly look backs and try to convince a gullible public that this guy was some kind of prophet.

By the way, if you actually believe that this guy, or any of the current spiritualist cooks can actually talk to the dead or see the future.....Well, PT Barnum said one is born every minute.....You would think people would have better things to waste their time on than this kind of absolute crap. Nothing like rich men and women out of those who simply prey on ignorance and like the sound of their own voices.

Garbage has got it right. There are no predictions here. It it always an interpretation that manages to
fit the event after the fact. The authors of these books usually have no qualifications in the field in which
they have written. A case in point is Zacharia Sitchin and his Sumarian revelations regarding Nibiru, aliens,
giant planets, etc. Sitchin has one college degree. It is in economic history. He has no training in ancient
languages, Sumarian or otherwise. Why is he any more qualified than you or I?

If you read the books on Nostradumas the authors generally say things like "this might mean" or "this could mean".
Even they imply that it is speculation. It amazes me that so many normally intelligent people are willing to
suspend reason and buy into this stuff.

Could there be a world war in a few years? Could we be hit by a comet in 2012? I guess so. Anything is possible.
But the question that must be asked is, do we have any definitive, testable evidence that these socalled
predictions have any degree of probability other than chance.

It appears that the answer to that question is a resounding NO.

There were two world wars in the last century so there is bound to be another one sometime soon whether or not he predicts it.

I have seen a lot of really poorly formed arguments, but I believe yours has to take the cake. The world spends trillions annually to try and give people at least a modicum of intelligence and this is what we get. SAD!

I believe in Jesus Christ...and I believe also with the second coming of Christ...but we don't know when that will come, even the angels in heaven don't know it. As a believer in Christ just prepare ourselves, live in a righteous way, make good things in our neighborhood and Love GOD. Follow the 2 major commandments that Gods given to us and the other 8 also, don't forget it...and if the Dec. 22, 2012 happens at least we are ready to face Christ and without any hesitation and any doubt...so start changing our lives....who knows it's just a matter of alarming to us to change our lives because as you know our moral obligation to each one of us is getting lost...for my Bros and sisters in Christ, just put your faith in GOD and repent now and ask for forgiveness with our GOD......GOD bless you all and Happy Easter...

its also said that there will be seven years of tribulation after the second coming of christ. and then ultimately the end of the world. If you believe this, its somewhere in the book of revelations, but That means 2012-2009 is less than seven years...so this means its not possible for christians like us.

As I understand it, the tribulation before Christ, according to the bible is only the last half of the 7 year time frame. Personally, I don't place a lot of weight on an exact date of 2012 or the Mayan calendar but it is interesting to see if there is any relation.

Jesus may have been a real person, and he may have had followers. But if you honestly think a man rose from the dead, or that when YOU die there is a heavenly space where you'll exist forever outside the realm of reality - well, it's just that. Outside the realm of reality. Don't pray or repent, seek knowledge and learn more about your world. Give your heart to something real, like science. EVOLVE.

By Predicting anything for the future to be taken seriously like those predictions of Nostradamus, is like promising tomorrow. But nobody is promised tomorrow, let alone the next thirty seconds. If the world "ends" in 2012, then that means that it can't possibly end before then, thus, predicting, in theory, the second coming of Christ. He made some predictions and people called him a "prophet", but people have twisted his words around and around and around again so many times that hundreds of years ago, you could find someone to say that Nostradamus may have "predicted" the outcome of the new episode of CSI. You can take anything out of context. Especially these things.
I guess we'll all just laugh when December 22, 2012 comes around, the day after the world is supposedly going to burst into flames, or be hit by a comet, all the same.
False Prophet is all that I can say.
But in other religions as well.
Does predicting the end times not go against your beliefs either?

I'd love to hear what you have to say.

That is simple-thinking.

Yes, Nostradamus may have gotten a little lucky, but he did have extreme intelligence and he practiced celibacy.

There is no such thing as a false prophet because anything can happen. You exist, therefore, you can change. Can a rock change itself? No. But you are living. You can. You exist to change. You have a conscious so you can change. So you can evolve.

Nostradamus was no seer, and his predictions, like those of many supposed psychics, can be made to look good in hindsight, but for some reason can never tell us anything about the future. The fact that we know that Nostradamus existed however does give him one attribute that we can not attribute to the supposed Jesus of the Bible. Amazing that the supposed son of God walked on the earth 2,000 years ago, but we don't seem to have any written accounts of this other than what is in the Bible.

Very strange.
