"So from what I have gathered the theory is that comet Elenin was in alignment with the earth and sun on Feb 27, 2010 and that it caused a 3 degree pole shift and the 8.8 quake in Chile. The theory also states that the comet will again be in alignment with the earth on or about March 15, 2011 and that it will again cause problems for the earth, but because it is closer the effects will be worse than the first one."

This means that this guy missed the Japan Tsunami by only 4 days. He feels that Comet Elenin caused the earthquake in Haiti and the Tsunami in Japan.

No, it is simply wrong. Comets don't cause earthquakes or pole shifts. This website's name should give you a
clue as to its scientific accuracy.

Just make sure you are being clear.

The 3 degrees is the geomagnetic pole shift, not the geographic one. The tone of the original post seems to indicate a geographic shift by the words "this is pretty wild".

Fortunately, it is not wild. The geomagnetic pole is constantly on the move. It moves longtitudinally westwards by a few degrees each year. So it is normal within known parameters.

As far as a comet affecting the Earth to the extent it causes Earthquakes, well, only if it hits. Otherwise I suggest people read up in detail on comets instead of accepting absurdities about cometary effects.

While I wouldn't consider an 8 cm shift, 3 degrees, it was certainly a shift. And this was only one earthquake, we also received jolt's from Haiti and Japan with more movement (Earth tilt)

It's not the fact it moves, it's the fact it has sped up in yearly movement, while I don't consider it anything to freak over, certainly an indication of changes.

I agree, a 5km comet won't alter Earth's orbit. I'm a little concerned about breakup from solar heating, that might get interesting :shock:

I suggest "guest" also looks into the electric comet theory.

It is an old 19th century theory that has no basis in factual examination. I suppose where matter is involved friction could cause slight electrical charges but other than that I suggest you research further but avoid the conspiracy sites that will no doubt abound on the subject.

It's bogus and doesn't qualify as theory. It's also tied in with the disproven electric universe hypothesis. And ironically there is not a single legitimate site that speaks of it! But for the sake of argument let's say the comet is electric, at its closest approach at 22 million miles from the earth it would be too far away for it to have any measurable effect on the earth.
